You don't mention your family giving you any resistance to your decision. If that's true I'm glad for you. They must be very special people.
Many years ago I tried a macrobiotic program (rice & certain veggies) and I got aggressive, too agressive. I never went back. At the time I thought it was the lack of meat but now, many many (many) years later, I'm sure it was the stress of the lifestyle change combined with the martial training I was undertaking at the time. I didn't associate it with the training because the problems weren't in the gym but out. Heck, the gym was one of the few places I could relax.
I'm dipping my foot in again, starting with a "Meatless Monday" tradition. The plan is to build up a big stockpile of favorite recipes and expand the practice one day at a time. I don't think I could go Vegan , but I'm going to expand my Raw repertoire outside of salad.
Maybe I could follow Meatless Monday with Tonya Tuesday, where I eat RAW and take extra time working on my circus skills!

Yea, my family has teased me over the years, but never resisted me. My family are big teasers anyway, about anything, so really I'm a great girl to hang out with the boys now – I see teasing as love and it's pretty hard to actually hurt my feelings through teasing anymore! But resistance – no, no one ever questioned me or said I should be a different way. I love my family for that. It's kept me very open minded to others with differing view points, which is one of the healthiest frames of mind one can covet, no matter what one eats.
I support your Meatless Mondays! That's a big change and yes, you can invite family or friends for the dinner and enjoy doing it together! It's not TOO big so that you will get overwhelmed, but you will be making changes, educating yourself, sharing with loved ones that change can happen at all ages and living the proof it's cool to care about other beings' lives, your own health, the environment and be that role model for change for the people in your life, too. Way to go!
I like Tonya Tuesday, but what about spreading raw out over every day. Kinda like raw breakfast every day? Not a big change, but HUGE with momentum! Meatless Monday, Tonya Tuesday and lots of support in between.
